Dr. Vikas Kohli graduated in 1986 with 5 gold medals from the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1986. He subsequently finished his Pediatric training from PGIMER (Chandigarh). He completed his Pediatric Residency (USA) from the Montefiore Medical Center, New York and trained in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Miami.
He has been awarded Best Research in Pediatrics Award at the National Indian Academy of Pediatrics Conference 1991 & at the University of Miami Best Research Award in 1996. He has also been awarded the American Heart Association/Genentech Award 1996; The American College of Cardiology – Affiliate in Training Award 1997.
He has performed several unique interventional procedures including Flow Restrictor Implantation in Pulmonary Artery for the first time in India; performed a balloon angioplasty in a 1.1 Kg child and stent implantation in a 1.8 kg child.
Congenital Heart Disease: with more than a 1000 abnormal diagnoses made antenatally and managed through pregnancy and in neonatal period, this is one of the largest experiences in North India.
Abnormal Heart Beat: This is one of the more common fetal heart beat abnormalities. Commonly referred to as “blocked beats” or extra heart beats (PACs or PVCs) their common and uncommon variants have been diagnosed by Dr. Kohli. Rare complications of these including SVT, Fetal Hydrops, intrauterine management of tachycardia have been done.
Twin Pregnancy: The incidence of heart disease in twin pregnancy is much higher and the complications unique including TRAP and TTS. Dr. Kohli carries experience in diagnosis, cardiac follow up and intra uterine management, post laser evaluation, follow up and management through neonatal period and beyond. In the rare situation of selective twin termination, the cardiac evaluation of the normal twin being critical, has been done in several situation.
Complete Heart Block: Intrauterine diagnosis, differential from benign conditions like blocked PAC’s, monitoring in utero and medical management in utero of complete heart block has been brought in focus in North India by Dr. Kohli.

DCHC was envisioned by Dr. Vikas Kohli as an “out of hospital” diagnostic Center. This has been the first dedicated Fetal, Neonatal & Pediatric 3D/4D echo setup established in Delhi. The place provides a comforting ambiance and short waiting time for the evaluation of a childs’ heart: from the Fetus to the Adolescent.
